“Al Gray and Northwest Woodcrafters LLC did a 1300 sq. ft. addition as well as some remodel to our existing house. We interviewed several contractors and NW Woodcrafters happened to be the low bid, but as I admitted later to Al, I would have chosen him even with a higher bid.

First, Al was very encouraging of our project while other firms seemed as if they would only agree to work for us because they didn’t have anything more important to do. I also felt other firms relied on their slick brochures and showrooms to sell themselves, rather than just show up and be sincere and helpful.

Second, I had a window detail in the blueprints I had been unable to resolve with the architect (hired independently of NW Woodcrafters LLC). Al assured me he would work to make it right-he did.

Most importantly, I was going to be the person home all day while new and interesting carpenters and subcontractors would be arriving for their part of the project. Al assured me that I would be treated with respect given to his own wife in that I would never be left alone with a stranger on the premises.

Our wonderful project of a recreation room, laundry room, bedroom and garage plus remodel commenced on a chilly December morning and so did our friendship and pride in the results. All in all, I wouldn’t change a thing in the experience or product. NW woodcrafters cared about my family, my pets (I can tell you funny pet rescue stories!), and my property. Attention to detail was fantastic. The windows the architect could not get right are my pride and the focus of the rec room after Al literally drew them out full size on the floor and worked with the manufacturer for their perfection. At one point we were discussing a vent detail-they couldn’t find one that matched the existing and I was shown a very close match; close was good enough for me. Next day as I walked outside, the carpenter was handcrafting an identical match! For Al, close just was not going to work and I would say that is reflected in the comments we get from every visitor to our home. The statement always made is how it does not appear to be an “addition”, but rather appears to have been built as a whole.

Kitchen and front porch remodel are currently on my wish list; when it’s time, NW Woodcrafters will be the ones to make the wish a reality."
